Chu Chengcheng has won many awards at the national, provincial and school levels in various teaching competitions. Although she is honored, when talking about the feeling of winning the prize, she said frankly: "The initial intention of participating in the competition is not to win the prize, but through the platform of the competition, I can better reflect on how to make the geological engineering courses I teach rigorous enough, more vivid and easier for students to accept." After participating in so many competitions, Chu Chengcheng deeply realized that kung fu must be spent in peacetime. As the saying goes, "One minute on stage and ten years off stage", only by doing a good job in usual teaching and accumulating enough materials can the results come naturally. After each competition, Chu Chengcheng should reflect on himself and then sum up his own shortcomings, so that he can perform better in the next competition and future classroom teaching. Yang Yongjie, from Class 18-2 majoring in geological engineering, said: "Teacher Chu Chengcheng often gives us some examples in class to help us understand our professional knowledge, and never makes us feel boring. For example, she will introduce the foundation settlement problem to be taught from the leaning tower of Pisa, and so on. Moreover, the feeling of attending her class is that both sides are making continuous progress, and our understanding of the knowledge points to be learned is more profound. " As Chu Chengcheng himself said: "I still remember what an old teacher at school said at a meeting when I first started working, that is,’ Being a teacher is a conscientious job’. No matter how busy I am, I have to prepare lessons in a down-to-earth manner, teach seriously, and often reflect on myself.Can teaching be better today? Is it possible to use other examples in class? Easier for students to understand? ….. I believe everything comes to him who waits. Chu Chengcheng mentioned to the author what her doctoral supervisor said when she graduated: It is not easy for a young teacher to stand firm on the platform. After work, Chu Chengcheng deeply understood this sentence. In order to "stand on the platform", she has made a lot of efforts and accumulated experience. "In fact, as a teacher, I not only need to reflect on my teaching work every day, but also be a teacher and set an example for students to learn and live."
"Teachers and Friends" in Students’ Eyes
Chu Chengcheng was funded by the National Scholarship Fund Committee and went to the School of Computer and Civil Engineering of Pacific University for a one-year exchange visit. Later, the school set up a bilingual teaching and training course. After comprehensively evaluating his ability level, Chu Chengcheng decisively signed up and obtained the teaching qualification. In 2018, Chu Chengcheng successfully completed the teaching task of "Modern environmental geology" in English for foreign students majoring in geological engineering, which showed her excellent teaching strength. In the face of foreign students in foreign countries, Chu Chengcheng put himself in their shoes. "I have had experience of studying abroad myself, and I can understand the hardships of studying abroad alone, so I often communicate with them while giving good classes to further understand what they think. For example, we will discuss the festivals and cultures of our respective countries together. In the friendship, I try my best to make them learn happily. " In fact, not only for international students, but also when teaching geological courses, Chu Chengcheng pays great attention to students’ listening experience. "I have been studying geological engineering for ten years, and my status has changed from a student to a teacher soon, so I often think that if I were a student, I would like teachers to teach. Now, I often communicate with my students, pay attention to collecting feedback from my classmates, and resolutely don’t let my courses become boring. " At the same time, in order to better promote the growth of students, Chu Chengcheng also participated in guiding undergraduates to participate in innovative and entrepreneurial projects and appealed to students.Make good use of the platform provided by the school and never read dead books. Hu Kailan of Class 18-2 majoring in geological engineering praised: "Sister Chu’s lectures are full of’ dry goods’, and we can feel that she has made a lot of preparations for this class during class. Usually, she will remind us what to prepare for the next class in the "Learning Pass", and she will take us to practice with a separate class before the exam for the professional calculation problem we are most worried about. Everyone likes her best because she always helps us solve many doubts from our perspective. " Although he is responsible for teaching seven specialized courses, Chu Chengcheng has always been able to experience the classroom from the students’ point of view so as to improve the teaching and keep exploring. He not only tries to enlighten the students with professional knowledge in the classroom, but also keeps up with the characteristics of the students and constantly optimizes the curriculum design.
"Respondents" in Life Examination
When Chu Chengcheng talked about her study experience, she shared with the author the "busyness" of her college life. She talked about that she had been the president of the college student union during her college years and devoted herself to serving every student around her. She always regarded learning as the top priority in her student career, and her academic performance was always among the best in her major. In the end, the average score of all courses exceeded 90, and she was successfully exempted from China University of Mining and Technology. "Life is a comprehensive exam", "Time is like water in a sponge, you can squeeze it" and "Bite your teeth, hold on, and there is a vast sky behind you". These are her attitudes and determination when she encounters difficulties. She hopes that every student can face them firmly and calmly when they encounter difficulties. She also shared with the author her study methods in college, such as "To improve the pattern of learning English, we can start with IELTS", "Review the advanced mathematics one month before the exam, and review it for at least three rounds", "Different courses can adopt different review methods" and so on. Chu Chengcheng handled his work and family life in an orderly way, and used his love to help him become more involved in the teaching process. In Chu Chengcheng’s "life test", she always faced it with a positive attitude and tried to win "high marks", and the source of each point was the obstacles she overcame in her teaching and educating career.
Take root in the platform, stand firm on the platform, come from the students and then return to the students. Chu Chengcheng, a young teacher, always thinks from the students’ point of view, preaching and teaching for the students, and at the same time constantly challenging himself, improving his teaching hard power and growing and progressing with the students. During the teaching days, she constantly showed her youthful demeanor, tempered her teaching skills, and helped every student to achieve something with her own efforts.
